Heresy: We are out to Corrupt your Children
According to the Wikipedia entry under Heresy, “Heresy, according to the Oxford English Dictionary, is a “theological or religious opinion or doctrine maintained in opposition, or held to be contrary, to the Roman Catholic or Orthodox doctrine of the Christian Church, or, by extension, to that of any church, creed, or religious system, considered as orthodox. By extension, heresy is an opinion or doctrine in philosophy, politics, science, art, etc., at variance with those generally accepted as authoritative.” The study of heresy is heresiology. The founder of a heresy is called a Heresiarch.”
Whoa, I just went through a dual-action according to. Sweet …… dual quotes. Does that mean that all faiths were heretical at one time or another?
Anyway, I posted this with said title to attract your attention to the fact that I enjoy black humor occasionally. Recently I have considered the fact that racial minorities and other minorities in general can get away with quite a bit.
My expiriment is as follows:
- What can a white suburban young male get away with saying/doing?
- What can’t a white suburban teenager get away with doing/saying?
- What are the social after effects of saying “controversial” things?
- Can a white person pull the “race” card when surrounded by racial minorities?
My heresy expiriment follows a different approach:
- How much is the general public entrenched in fundamentalism (and/or) dogma?
- What can be gained by spiritual joking?
- How often can you be “slightly heretical” and not get smote?
- When are you going beyond fun and corrupting the church’s youth?
These are some of the questions I hope to answer more completely. Surprisingly I haven’t been smote or burned at the stake yet. I wonder if God would ever directly tell me or imply somehow that he has a sense of humor? So something to think about. I had to write something on the topic before I forget what happened this evening a Logos. Hit me up with some comebacks.
